Rome

Оne of the oldest capital cities in Europe, which dates back to 753 BC, is situated in the central part of Apennine Peninsula, and it represent cradle of Christianity, is the capital city of Italy, Rome. Unlike many other cities in Europe that I have visited, Rome is one of the few cities that has preserved its authenticity and history. The Italian food and coffee will complement your energy, you will be ready to discover new places in this city. I hope that through this blog post you will want to visit Rome at least once in a lifetime.

After landing at the airport Ciampino and accommodating in apartment that was 5min walk from the colosseum, we have started our tour. First, we had visited the Basilica St. Clement, in which are the relics of St. Cyril. Immediately afterwards we headed for the Colosseum. The Colosseum is known for its gladiatorial struggles and fighting between animals. We circled it, and headed for the La Biga restaurant, from where you can have a wonderful view of the colosseum and enjoy good pizza and hot coffee.

The tour continues with a review of the Basenza Masenzio, the Roman Forum and the national monument of Victor Emanuel II, located next to Piazza Venezia. According to me, one of the most magnificent and largest monuments in Rome, and left me with the greatest impression. These sights are located at a short distance, so you can visit more places on the same day. The tour of that day was completed by visiting the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, one of the largest squares in Rome.

The second day we used to visit the most famous Fontana di Trevi and the Spanish Steps.

As we moved through this part of the city, we made small shopping, ate in Pane e salami and drank coffee at Illy shop. In the Illy shop itself, you can try their coffee, which is one of the most famous Italian coffees, and at the same time save money.

Take 1 day to visit the Vatican. Do not give up when you see the line of people waiting to enter. Really WORTH the wait. We sincerely visited only the Basilica of St. Peter and that's took us about 3 hours. The highest point in the city is actually located on the top of the basilica, and from there you have a wonderful view of the whole city. From there we headed towards the Tiber River quay and at the same time reviewed Castel Sant'Angelo, Piazza del Popolo and Terrazza del Pincio from where you again have a wonderful view.

Tips and tricks

- Use public transport, it costs only 1.5eu for 100min

- Since it is one of the most expensive cities in Europe, avoid restaurants close to famous sights, because food in them is more expensive

-Try pizza, pasta and Tiramisu

- Be physically prepared to walk over 50km for only 3 days

I hope you will book your flight as soon as possible for Rome. Rome is the story itself, have a plan to visit, but do not plan it every minute, leave time for discovering new places in this city.
